‘PICTONESIAN’ with Stewart Armstrong
Welcoming the Fall/Winter season, Woodensun recently released their latest collection of a capsule collaboration team up with illustrator Stewart Armstrong, “Pictonesian”.
Stewart Armstrong (Compost Positions / Club Club) is a freelance graphic designer, art director and illustrator, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. His process involves a continuous play of analogue and digital, often starting with a single mark, drawing, found image or his own photography; which is then scanned, rearranged, and redrawn until something feels good, (or it’s time to go home).
‘Pictonesian’, Pictish (ancient Scottish) and Indonesian.
The graphics highlight and riff on similarities, contrasts and juxtapositions between the two distant, yet seemingly related, landscapes and folkloric histories.
The ancient touched graphics can easily be seen on the various products of the collection, such as T-Shirt, Shirt, Longpants, Shortpants, and Crewneck.
